Islamic State For The Global Terrorism Index - 1746 Words

According to the Global Terrorism Index, almost 18,000 deaths accord in 2013 which is a 60% increase from 2012. The 4 major groups responsible for these deaths are: Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram in Nigeria, the Taliban in Afghanistan and al-Qaida in various parts of the world. Steve Killelea, the executive director of the Institute for Economics and Peace stated in 2014, â€Å"significant and worrying increase in worldwide terrorism†. He also stated that, â€Å"what beheading a westerner does is evoke a strong reaction†, â€Å"If you have 20 people killed in an attack in Iraq, it has an effect. But if 20 people are killed downtown London, it has a much stronger effect.† From January 1st to October 2015 there has been a recorded 256 terrorist attacks throughout the world based on the radical Muslim ideology that innocent men, women and children as their victims to a radical ideology if you are a non-believer in Islam and 2015 is not over yet. These attacks will not stop until the world that is led by the United States takes affirmative and decisive action to eliminate this threat. The attitude of â€Å"this cannot happen here in the United States†, should have been put to bed on September 11th, 2001. Since America got involved in Afghanistan after September 11th, 2001 the country rallied behind the war effort.
